I am flattered by your fascination with me
-- Alanis Morissette

I am right with the millions of folks that are fascinated by celebrities, stars, whatever you want to call them. I mean, some of these folks are very entertaining in their chosen profession – acting, singing, etc. but to watch them navigate around the globe as Goodwill Ambassadors or PETA mouthpieces or furniture jumpers is where the real fun begins.

Anyway, I love how famous folk get together all the time to pat each other on the back: the Oscars, the Emmys, the daytime Emmys, the Grammys, the SAG Awards, the BET Awards, the ACMs, CMAs, MTV Movie Awards, etc. etc. And this is all well and good, but I’m personally glad high profile awards season is on hiatus. Well until May sweeps, that is. These folks work very hard to produce quality television, film, music, radio, soaps, etc. and they do deserve recognition. But what about us real folk? We don’t get to take part in those (and yes I know about the People’s Choice Awards but that’s to congratulate celebrities). I’m talking about awards voted on by and for us regular folk. What do you think? I think everyone could use encouragement, pat on the back, recognition, appreciation, don’t you?

What do you think? Got any others?
