I appreciate you delving into an area you arent very familiar with. You should break out some of those albums sometime.

I hope Holli still wants to get married after recent developments. Last night a typical phone call turned sour when she asked what sort of GROOM's cake I wanted. I told her a 'possum one. This was met with much dimay. ....then I said a 'coon one?...it went downhill after that. She thought I was joking...I think.

She asked if there was another theme which might interest me that...would not be so...REDNECK. That prompted me to think...hey...I'm a botanist....I like plants...so I threw out the test balloon of a "cactus cake". I described my vision of an upright saguaro...you know the standard cacti of cartoons and westerns. This idea too was met with little excitation.

She asked... anything else? So....I thought real hard about themes or things that have meant a lot to me from my youth up. It came to me like a ton of bricks....STAR WARS!. So....I thought (being I want a chocolate cake) what Star Wars character would look good as a cake? I first thought Jabba the Hut...but he's gross and probably make everyone sick if they were eating Jabba. Then it occurred to me that CHEWBACCA is already brown! A whole lot of extra coloured icing would not be necessary. I was all fired up about Chewbacca! I didnt sense an agreement but she certainly didnt say NO. So...all last night I was pumped about my potential Chewbacca cake. I got on the web looking for Chewbacca cakes, but I dont think there are any. I am sure there have been Chewbacca cakes because surely such a great idea has been thought up before...but maybe they were just not posted on the web. This morning I told her that we were going to have a tough time finding someone to make a Chewbacca cake. This prompted something I had heard before..."I thought you were joking". It was then decided we would have a respectable standard round or square GROOM's cake with grapes on top.

The lesson learned here I sort of already knew. You future grooms out there...listen up...When it comes to planning a wedding you are always safe to say, "that sounds good" or "if thats what you want, thats fine with me" which is how I feel essentially all the time anyway. But...I thought there might be an exception to the GROOM's cake since you know...its called the GROOM's cake...but I was wrong...forgive me, I have never been in a wedding before.

The bottom line is...it doesnt really matter. Dont get me wrong...a Chewbacca cake would be nice. But, Im just glad I am fortunate enough to marry a wonderful woman that has become my best friend.
