I've got an idea
that I wanna share
You don't like it?
So what -- I don't care
-- Rob Bass and DJ Easy Rock
Ok, isn't it a distinct possibility that the whole Ashton and Demi thing is a very, very elaborate episode of Punk'd?? Think about it -- Demi has been out of the spotlight for quite a while and now you can't go anywhere without seeing her face on a magazine. This would be the perfect publicity stunt for sure. Meanwhile, Ashton is spreading his mug all over ever publication just in time for the new seasons of That 70's Show and Punk'd. This is a possibility people, I'm telling you.
Now, why are we as a whole obsessed with celebrities? What is it about them that makes us curious about their lives? And I'm certainly not pointing any fingers, I get my Entertainment Weekly in the mail and it serves its purpose -- I am thoroughly entertained. And I even I wonder why do I care if Matt Damon broke up with his long term girlfriend? Anyway, things that make you go hmmm...
Hope you all are behaving yourselves!

Can I get a what what?
You guys would not believe the day I had yesterday! We participated in a county wide diaster preparedness drill, well 2 of them actually, and it was madness!
But weirdly fun. In the p.m. drill I got to hang out in the ED and we had about 80 kids come through that had been exposed to chemicals. They also had to go through our decontamination unit. I basically hung out for information and communication troubleshooting purposes and I was fascinated.
Who would have ever thought that I'd be hanging out in the ED for any official purpose whatsoever in my lifetime? My job is cool, man! =)
Hope you kids are doing good -- I love all of you!

Y'all gonna make me act a fool
Up in here, up in here,
Y'all gonna make me lose my cool
Up in here, up in here
-- DMX
Last week I went and made my almost weekly deposit to Wal-Mart. And yes, I do like Target better, but it comes down to simple economics --- Wal-Mart is cheaper. I have to be reasonable and logical about some things, people (especially since I'm irrational and illogical about most). Here's my philosophy --Wal-Mart for grocery, everyday, definitely can't get in the 10 items or less line, type stuff. Target for fun things, I'm in a hurry must get home things, etc.
Wal-Mart (always, the low price place, per their ads) never ceases to amaze me. You get hundreds of average, normal folks all up in that one building and people lose their minds. A nice, otherwise tame soccer mom will run over your foot with her buggy. A sweet old man will dart ahead of you to make sure he gets in line before you do. What is the deal? I don't know, but I've finally given in and now revert to my alter ego when I enter the store. To read more about my alter ego, see previous entry and all of the ranting posts…
Anyway, so I’m in the zone, when I enter those doors. I’m all about grabbing the buggy and getting jiggy with it in the quickest manner possible. So first stop, hair products (y’all know I gots to have my hair did). Here’s example of typical shopper number one – blocking the entire aisle with her buggy. I stopped and waited for her to notice me and move, but she kept staring at the rows of shiny bottles, decisions, decisions… Excuse me, I say. No response. I resisted the urge to ram my buggy into hers and instead moved it out of my way. She glanced up and insincerely said, Oh sorry. Yeah right.
I maneuvered over to the cleaning supply aisle (because you also know that I am a germ obsessed freakazoid) to get some Clorox cleaning stuff. And here squats a teenage girl, trying to determine which air freshener she’d like to purchase. By spraying the contents of the different cans in huge amounts in the air and then sniffing. Ok, so this is not the fragrance counter at Parisian, little girl, get out of my way, all causing my head to hurt. I turned the corner and stared to sneeze my head off. I contemplated going back around and sneezing directly in her face, but I am in fact mostly bark and very little bite. I finally wheeled into the check out line, only to empty the contents of my buggy on the conveyor belt thingy to find the lady in front of my taking her sweet time putting the bagged items back in her cart. I began to rub my hand across my forehead in the same manner that I always do when I’m irritated and/or not feeling that hot.
I wonder if Wal-Mart would have a problem with clearing the store of any and all possibly annoying or irritating customers for me? Just once a week, half an hour, round up all the riff raff and let me shop in peace!

If you feel like dancing
well come on, it's up to you
We got the sound to keep you getting down, down
The train is coming through
-- Quad City DJs
So I was on the open interstate on Friday afternoon, minding my own business and extremely excited that I was staring into a 3 day weekend. So my exuberance had to manifest itself in some form or fashion and since I was in my ride, of course I turned to music.
I had leafed through my car CD collection (not to be confused with my complete collection, the whole of which resides in my crib) and hit a little Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Jason Mraz and Cyndi Thomson (and if that doesn't give you an idea of my eclectic music tastes, nothing will). So I needed to continue with the happy and/or fast music and I switched to the radio, noting it was shortly after 5 on Friday.
Everyone knows that any good and decent radio station will open the vaults and play some cool stuff at 5 on Friday to celebrate the weekend. As luck would have it I checked the station just in time to hear "woo woo, it's the choo choo train.. I can smell them tranquil breezes from a mile away..." And all of the sudden, Gloria Estefan was right, the rythm did get me. Before I knew what happened, I was singing at the top of my lungs and I threw my right arm up into the "choo choo" motion and screamed "woo woo".
All of this, of course was going down as a diesel passed me. The next thing I knew I heard a very loud diesel horn beep twice, sounding like a fog horn as it whizzed by my window. Now I realized what I had done. I laughed and let him pass and continued with my little song and dance.
Later on I ended up passing him again and he ripped off another double time horn blow to let me know he recognized me. I'm sure my cheeks and the color of my jeep were one in the same...

Time cast it's spell on you
But you won't forget me
-- Fleetwood Mac
Hey! Welcome to October 3, 2003! This is a very special day because it is the one year anniversary of amydabbs.com! Woo hoo! People sometimes ask me why I have a site and the reason I give them is this -- when I left that other crappy, dark hole of a job that I think literally sucked the life force right out of me, I wanted to keep in touch with my friends there. So, Chris and Keith suggested that I buy my own domain and use it for email and blogging. And here were are, one whole year later.
So many thanks goes out to all of you kiddies that visit on a regular basis to delve into my psyche, or psychosis, rather. This site has become a huge catharsis for me and just imagine if I really posted every crazy thing that runs through my head. I love to hear from you guys, so kept commenting! And thanks for keeping in touch with me -- you know I love you all, right?? =)
Much love!

If you're out on the road
Feeling lonely, and so cold
All you have to do is call my name
And I'll be there on the next train
Where you lead, I will follow
-- Carole King,"Where you lead" the theme to Gilmore Girls
Ok, gang, day 3 of things I love! I love, love, LOVE the Gilmore Girls! This has got to be one of the sweetest, funniest, most heartwarming hours of television ever made. I'm on the very verge of obsession with this little WB gem.
I could continue gushing, but just take my word for it -- if you don't watch it, you must start now! Tuesday at 7 p.m.!
