What the world needs

now is love, sweet love

Day 2 of the things I love series:

I love where I work! Today is my one year anniversary -- I can't believe it's been that long! I feel very privileged and fortunate that I work in a place that helps kids. I'm very thankful to be where I am. Now, that being said, feel free to send any and all donations to my place of work as you feel so led! It's tax dedcutible, since we are not for profit! =) We're about to hit a crunch based on the morons and what they are currently up to in our state's capitol. Keep Amy employed, cash and checks will be accepted! =)

love to you all,

Ames

How long has it been

since someone you let in
has given what I gave to you?
-- Maroon 5

Where did I go?? What in the world? I have been a long time gone. Sorry! Anyway, something new, kids -- I"m going to now post a few entries about things that I love. We'll take a bit of a break from the rants and move to nice things.

On my list this week: Maroon 5!

This is the band that sings "Harder to Breathe". What a great tune and I picked up their CD "Songs about Jane" a few weeks ago and cannot seem to pry it from my CD player. Their stuff is fresh and cool. Very different than your average run of the mill pop or top 40 radio. I highly recommend getting their CD.

Ok, so that's all for today. Please be good boys and girls and I'll see you all tomorrow!

Tell me lies

Tell me sweet little lies
Tell me lies
Tell me, tell me lies
-- Fleetwood Mac

I am so tired of people just flat out lying. What do you think gives you the right to just make up crap and then pass it off on someone else. This is riduculous. I'm also tired of what are supposed to be grown adults acting like children and thinking they can get away with crap. Grow up, be a professional. Because if you're going to act like a child I'm going to treat you like one -- don't think I won't push your sorry butt down on the playground, then.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older

Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
in the kind of world where we belong
-- The Beach Boys

Yes, it is in fact true, I have rekindled my obsession with The Beach Boys. I grew up on oldies and country and the Boys are among my favorites. I caught the end of a John Stamos produced mini-series on them the other night. I saw this movie years ago when it was first out, but missed the end of it. So I got to see the end and I was once again hooked.

I went out to Best Buy and picked up The Sounds of Summer. It's a great collection, and I can't seem to remove it from my CD player. Anyway, you may think the songs about cars and surfing are infantile, but Brian Wilson is a genius and this music started a whole new kind of pop music. Long live The Beach Boys!

Big wheels keep on turnin'

Proud Mary keep on burnin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river
-- Creedence Clearwater Revival or Ike and Tina Turner

Why do some car companies feel the need to place cheap, tiny little tires on big trucks? I mean, I know they use cheap tires for monetary reasons, but some of this stuff is out of control. For example, if there's room to place a concrete block between the top of your tire and your wheel well, then you need bigger tires. The Ford Ranger is the king of this crime. Click here to see a picture and believe me, it's like a 2 foot gap in person.

Now obviously, you've got to have some space there for the wheels to actually spin, but come on people -- don't underestimate the value a nice set of tires will add to your ride. You may have a nice vehicle, but little matchbox car wheels just make it look like a toy. Do yourself a favor, get for real wheels, bling them up with some 22's that still spin when you're stopped and you'll be the coolest g on the block.

Have a good weekend, homefry!

I've got a hole in me now

Yeah, I've got a scar I can talk about ...
But some things in this world
Man, they don't make sense
Some things you don't need until they leave you
And then they're things that you miss
-- MB 20

9/11 -- I remember.

Money comes in

But the fact is
It's not enough to pay my taxes
And I can't cry anymore
-- Sheryl Crow

There's been plenty of debate in our state lately about the governor's proposed billion dollar tax plan. Anyway, I'm not one to talk about politics at all. So, we'll leave this one be. I just thought that the coalition against the tax package should have used that song in their spots.

On to really important news --- Football is here! Roll Tide, Roll! =)

Yea Alabama

Drown 'em Tide
Every Bama man's behind you
Hit your stride
Go teach the bulldogs to behave
Send the Yellowjackets to a watery grave
And if a man starts to weaken
That's a shame
'Cause Bama's pluck and grit have writ her name in Crimson flame
Fight on fight on fight on men!
Remember the Rose Bowl, we'll win then
So go roll to victory, hit your stride
You're Dixie's football pride
Crimson Tide, Roll Tide, Roll Tide!
