yes, yes, y'all and it don't stop

Anybody have a clue what song that is?? It's driving me nuts. I think it may be a Dr. Dre tune, who knows.

I am all about quoting song lyrics in everyday life. As you all can tell by the title of every single entry almost! Anyway, the other night I was talking to Breezy and I said, "That's the way it goes -- I guess". Then we proceeded to rack our brains to figure out what song that was from. And for those of you playing it home, I finally nailed it "Set adrift on memory bliss" by PM Dawn. Do you guys remember that one? It's the one where he talks the whole time and they sample "True" by Spandu Ballet. "Baby you send me. Set adrift on memory bliss of you".

Anyway, what am I even talking about? Who cares, right? I am going to see Rascal Flatts this weekend! I can't even get over how excited I am. I love me some Flatts!!

6th Avenue heartache

I had my world strapped against my back
I held my hands, never knew how to act

And the same black line that was drawn on you
Was drawn on me
And now it's drawn me in
6th Avenue heartache

I was listening to the "Bringing down the horse" album by the Wallflowers when I fell and dislocated my elbow my sophmore year of college. (If you've never heard that story in its entirety, please have me tell you sometime). My dorm was on 6th Avenue -- I was all over singing that all the time. Now I work on 6th Avenue. Anyway, no rhyme or reason as to why I chose that to write about, just thought I would.

I'm just obsessed with music, I guess. I guess -- heck, I know I am. When I'm not thinking random thoughts about whatever, my brain is repeating a melody and lyrics. A few days ago I thought I would scream because I couldn't get, "you can run and you can hide, but I'm not leaving, 'less you come with me, we had our problems, but I'm on your side, you're all I need, please believe in me" out of my head. He's right, though, how many times can I say I'm sorry?? Not that I'm sorry about anything, I was just saying. ANYWAY, since I'm on a Phil Collins kick, "Is anybody listening? No reply at all". Now, over and done with my babbling for today.

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell

Matchbox 20. I love them. If you don't have their latest album, drop what you're doing and go grab it! Grace and I saw them last year and they were amazing -- great show. They're skipping our grand state this year. They'll be in Atlanta, Tennessee, Louisana, all up around us, not not in Sweet Home Alabama.

Oh well. And I really, really was hoping to catch this tour. I just may go over to Atlanta, if I can sucker someone into going with me...

Anyway, so the title up there, lest you think I've lost my mind (I have, in fact) is from their newest single, "Unwell".

"Oh no / Feeling like I'm heading toward a breakdown/ And I don't know why/ But I'm not crazy/ I'm just a little unwell/ I know, right now you can't tell/ But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see/ A different side of me/ I'm not crazy I'm just a little unwell/ I know, right now you don't care/ But soon enough, you're gonna think of me/ And how I used to be/ I've been talking in my sleep/ Yeah, pretty soon they'll come to get me/ Yeah they're taking me away"

Great song -- I'm telling you. It comes across as funny ha-ha when you read it there, but the song is so heavy, serious and you feel like you know exactly what he's talking about. Shoot, I do know what he's talking about! As Weezer would say, "I'm not crazy, Milan, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!" Wow -- and get this! I just looked up how to spell those character names, and it is M'Lynn and Ouiser!! who knew????

A change would do you good

hello all!

Or should I say, hello one?? =) Mucho kudos to my one fan that shouted out her fave songs yesterday. As I promised, I'll break down what my 3 really are all about.

1. These Dreams-- this song is my childhood. It's almost like the soundtrack of my life back in the day. I clearly remember going to the grocery store with my parents and they bought me some slime. We got in the car and I was messing with my neon green slime and this song came on the radio. I told Dad to turn it up because I liked it -- he said he liked it, too. Second memory, same green slime, this time, 2 in the morning at my cousin's house watching the video on MTV. We were tossing the slime back and forth and it got in my hair. We had to wake my aunt up to help me wash it out. Those were the days. Third point, the song just flat out rocks. What other song can you name when in the background you hear words that are coming up in the song, instead of echoing what was just said?? "Weaker in my eyesight (background, a la Ann Wilson)" then a split second later, Nancy pipes in with the lead, "Weaker in my eyesight and a candle in my grip / words that have no form, flowing from my lips."

2. Stop dragging my heart around -- Love, love, love STEVIE! See previous posts. This one too has childhood memories. I remember my daddy playing it on the stereo for me and I would sing and dance around.

3. Escape (the Pina Coloda Song) -- just about Pina Colodas. I love Pina Colodas, straight up from back in the day with Orange Julius down at the Parkway City Mall, y'all. =)

So, I've added number 4 and 5 for you:

4. Wide Open Spaces -- the Dixie Chicks

5. I can't cry anymore -- Sheryl Crow

Ok, kiddies. There you have it. Am I entertaining you or scaring you off????

Out of control ridiculous

Ok, here's what I thought we'd do today, kids! I'm going to tell you my 3 favorite songs, then you post your's! Ok? Ok!

1. These Dreams by Heart
2. Stop dragging my heart around by Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty
3. Escape (the Pina Coloda song) by Rupert Holmes

Now, what does that say about me? Let's see, hhmmm... dreams fascinate me, I don't like having my heart dragged around, and I do, in fact, like pina colodas and getting caught in the rain. Anyway, now, all one of you that reads this, your turn!

=)

Tune in next time when I tell you what those songs really mean to me....
