Another birthday!

Happy Birthday to Amy C.!! Formally known as Amy B.! I hope you have a great one, girl! I wish I was there to throw down with you!

On to reasons why I'm not there to party with my buddy -- it's IRON BOWL time! yes, folks, that's right! For all my computer genius buddies, the translation is, it's the biggest football game of the year -- Alabama v. Auburn. I'll be in my 2nd hometown of T-town this weekend. All I have to say is ROLL TIDE, 28-17 Bama wins.

Y'all be good! Santa Claus is watching you!

Step into the velvet of the morning

I've always wished I could write songs. It must be so cool to take the ramblings of your mind and transform them into something that others can really identify with. Take one of my favorite artists for example...(This would be Stevie Nicks for those of you playing at home)

Step into the velvet of the morning
Let yourself lay back within your dreams
Take on the situation but not the torment
Now you know its not as bad as it seems

I thought of this song this morning right as the clock went off. Step into the velvet of the morning... nothing seemed velvet to me today, but, like she says, I know its not as bad as it seems. Here's a rockin' one for ya:

And the days go by....
like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own...
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby...
Nothin' else mattered

What a cool little diddy Edge of 17 is! Stevie is the bomb, plan and simple. She's so cool, in fact, that DC sampled the hook for their infamous "Bootylicious".

Here's another great one.

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life
I don't know

Could you say it any better? Can you sum up what it's like to deal with change any better than that? Landslide has been played at countless graduations and covered numerous times -- most recently by the Dixie Chicks. (go out right now and buy their newest, "Home") ((ok, read the rest of this first, then go buy it))

Of course there are some that I just don't get, like the title cut off her latest release, Trouble in Shangri-la:

I hear there's trouble in Shangri-La
I run through the grass
I run over the stones
Down to the sea
Show me the way back, honey

I get that it's about trouble in paradise, but the verses I just don't get. Anyway, there you have it. My rant for the day, I wish I could write songs. (I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller -- any of y'all that really know me, know what I'm sayin'!!) And the rest of you song birds out there do, too. Think 1995, novelty hit....

Song of the day

Ok, peeps -- I'm going to throw down some song lyrics here... I highly recommend you all run right out and get RF's new CD, Melt. The song is Mayberry and I have it in my head and I was just thinking that it is so true, so I wanted to post some of the lyrics for ya...

Sometimes it seems like this world is spinning faster than it did in the old days. So naturally we have more natural disasters from the strain of a fast pace.
Sunday was a day of rest, now it's one more day for progress.
And we can't slow down, 'cause more is best -- it's all an endless process.

Well, I miss Mayberry, sitting on the porch drinking ice cold Cherry Coke, where everything is black and white. Picking on a six string, when people pass by, you call them by their fist name, watching the clouds roll by.... bye bye

there you have it. I think it's a great little piece of commentary on the way life really is.

slow down, y'all -- this is the south after all!

Happy Tuesday to all!

First things first --- shout out, holla holla for Holli -- HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY, DUDE!

Ok, next thing -- have you people seen the trees lately? With all the rain and dreariness around, it's been hard to notice, but the trees are changing. Why do they do that? I'm just curious. Why not just fall off? Anyway, it's a fabulous sight, and I highly recommend you noticing. On that note, notice all the cool stuff around you -- it's a beautiful day today, complete with sunshine and a light breeze (not to be confused with you, Breezy). Anyway, God's fall color show is in progress, so check it when you can.
Much love and hugs to all you guys!!

Free your mind and the rest will follow

Don't ask! Just had it in my head, that's all.

Happy Birthday, Susan! Another 25er now!

Not much is going on here. I'm still busy and just plugging along. I'm making some progress on 2 sites that I am working on. And it hit me, I am so very organized and meticulous when it comes to site organization, content, keeping up with my notes, etc. But, everything else -- a total mess! Check book, a wreck, my desk, pretty messy. But yet, I have to keep this list on my white board in nice neat columns and my notes for my projects organized in folders. So why is everything else so outta whack?? who knows! anyway, have a fabulous Tuesday. It's raining out of control ridiculous here!
(What is the deal with this site?? I don't know, Holli -- I don't know!_

On second thought...

Ok, I had a change of heart about Halloween --- You all know where I work, so I'm not going to call it by name, but they had a Halloween costume party for the kids yesterday. I went over and it just made me burst with pride to be associated with this great organization. To see those kids dressed up and having fun made me think that there may be some good in Halloween after all. These kids are amazing. They are having to deal with all these different difficult situations and yet here they are, laughing and having a great time. That party was a great way to help them forget for a little while. Anyway, I'm a big softie and that hit me right at home...
